I Fell in Love with Home Again,

🙏🍁Sunday Reflection-I Fell in Love with Home Again 🏠 ❤️

📖 Scripture

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

There was a time in my life when I looked forward to every holiday with childlike excitement.

Years ago, Dennis and I dreamed about opening a little bed-and-breakfast at the Lake of the Ozarks. We imagined welcoming guests, serving homemade breakfasts, decorating for every season, and creating a place where people could make happy family memories.

Life had other plans.

We raised our family.

We cared for our pets.

We worked hard.

And sometimes the dreams we carry quietly wait while we faithfully live the season we’re in.

Then our family changed.

When my daughter left, the holidays became quieter. If I’m honest, my excitement for decorating, planning recipes, and celebrating was gently tucked away for a while. I found myself looking backward more than forward.

But God wasn’t finished writing the story.

Without realizing it, something beautiful began to happen.

I planted herbs.

I baked bread.

I started sharing recipes.

I gathered stories.

I set the table.

I watched Dennis and Zach become part of Rosemary Thyme.

One day I caught myself planning autumn recipes months in advance. I couldn’t wait to decorate for fall. I found myself looking forward to uncovering my dining room table again, setting out my seasonal dishes, arranging my favorite centerpieces, and preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Then it hit me.

Somewhere along the way…I fell in love with home again.

Not because life had returned to what it once was.

It hadn’t.

But because God had gently shown me that every season has its own beauty if we’re willing to receive it.

This autumn, I’m choosing to look forward instead of backward.

There will always be memories I treasure.

There will always be people I miss.

But there are also pumpkins still to decorate with…

Bread still to bake…

Tables still to set…

Candles still to light…

Recipes still to share…

And holidays still waiting to be celebrated.

As I’ve shared my heart here at Rosemary Thyme, I’ve realized something beautiful.

Many of us who gather around this table are in the same season of life.

We’ve celebrated weddings.

We’ve raised children.

We’ve said goodbye to parents.

We’ve watched our families grow and change.

We’ve carried joys that are almost impossible to describe…and losses that are difficult to put into words.

By this season of life, we carry so much inside us.

So many memories.

So many feelings.

So many stories.

Perhaps that’s why home means even more now than it once did.

And maybe that’s why we need one another.

Not because we have all the answers…

But because we understand.

If you’re reading this today, I hope you know something.

Your memories still matter.

Your home still matters.

Your traditions still matter.

And no matter what this season of life has looked like…

There is still beauty ahead.

So this autumn, let’s look forward together.

Let’s light the candle.

Let’s bake the bread.

Let’s set the table.

Let’s welcome another season with grateful hearts.

And together…

Let’s fall in love with home again. 🏡🍂

If you’ve found yourself looking more toward yesterday than tomorrow, I hope you’ll join me this fall.

Let’s welcome this new season with grateful hearts.

Let’s celebrate the simple gift of home.

And together…

Let’s fall in love with home again. 🏡🍂

🙏 Blessing

May God fill your home with His peace, your table with grateful hearts, and this new season with fresh hope. May He help each of us see the beauty He is creating today while giving thanks for the memories that brought us here. Amen.
