Classic Philly Cheesesteak

🌿 Rosemary Thyme Classic Philly Cheesesteak

With Cheese Whiz, Grilled Onions & Peppers

There are some meals you just know will bring a smile before they even hit the table.

My son has always loved steak, so anytime I can turn something simple into a steak dinner of sorts, I know I’m going to have a very happy son. And this sandwich… this one definitely does the trick. 💛

It’s warm, hearty, a little messy in the best way—and filled with those simple, comforting flavors that make a home feel full.

🥪 Ingredients

* 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or shaved beef)

* 4 hoagie rolls

* 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

* 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced

* 1 tbsp olive oil

* 1/2 tsp black pepper

* 1/2 tsp garlic powder

* 1/2 tsp onion powder

* 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

* 1/2 cup Cheese Whiz

* 4 tbsp butter (for toasting rolls)

🍳 Directions

1. Cook the onions and peppers

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add sliced onions and peppers and cook 6–8 minutes until soft and lightly caramelized.

Remove and set aside.

2. Cook the steak

In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced beef.

Let it sear briefly, then chop and turn with a spatula.

Season with black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

Cook just until browned, about 2–3 minutes.

3. Bring it together

Return the onions and peppers to the skillet and mix everything together.

4. Melt the cheese

Reduce heat slightly and spoon Cheese Whiz over the mixture.

Let it melt gently into the meat.

5. Toast the rolls

Butter the inside of each hoagie roll and toast until golden.

6. Assemble

Pile the hot cheesesteak mixture into each toasted roll and serve right away.

🧂 Optional Finishing Touch

A tiny pinch of fleur de sel right before serving adds a lovely final touch.

🙏 A Simple Blessing

Lord,

Thank You for the gift of gathering at the table.

For meals that fill not only our stomachs, but our hearts.

Bless this food, this home, and the ones we share it with.

May simple moments like this remind us how good it is to be together.

Amen.
