Reap What You Sow
This week I spent time in Galatians chapters four through six, and the message felt so close to home.
Paul writes:
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control… If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”
As I read, I couldn’t help but think about both the garden and the kitchen — two places where quiet truth shows itself over time.
In the garden, we don’t argue with the seed.
What we plant… eventually grows.
In the kitchen, the ingredients we choose shape the final dish.
What we put in… is what comes out.
And Paul gently reminds us of the same spiritual principle:
“Whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”
There is something deeply comforting in that.
Because the fruit of our lives isn’t meant to be forced or manufactured.
Like a well-tended garden, it grows naturally from what we are rooted in.
When we stay close to Christ…
love begins to grow.
Peace begins to settle in.
Gentleness begins to soften our words.
Not all at once.
Not perfectly.
But faithfully — little by little.
In this quieter season of my life, I’m learning that walking by the Spirit looks a lot like tending a home: steady, prayerful, and patient with the process.
Today my simple prayer is this:
Lord, help the fruit of my life reflect Your Spirit. ![]()
