During this quiet season of Lent, I have been thinking about a message that runs all through Scripture:
“Do not be afraid.”
“Fear not.”
My father used to say something very similar when I was growing up:
“Don’t be afraid. Be strong.”
Over the years — through marriage, motherhood, and many seasons of learning — I’ve come to understand something more deeply…
We are human.
We are sometimes weary.
We are sometimes unsure.
And yes… we are broken in places.
Lent gently reminds us of that truth.
But the cross reminds us of something even greater:
We are not alone in our weakness.
We are not abandoned in our mistakes.
We have a Savior who meets us right where we are.
Here in the Rosemary Thyme kitchen, I hold that close.
We cook.
We learn.
We try again.
We care for the people God has placed at our table.
And we do it with quiet courage.
Fear not. Be strong.
He is with us. ![]()
