Measure of a Man
“You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.” — Psalm 128:2
There are many ways the world measures success.
Status.
Titles.
Income.
Recognition.
But I have come to believe that some of life’s greatest successes are quieter than that.
A man who rises each day and goes to work.
A man who carries responsibility, even when he is tired.
A man who keeps going through illness, hard seasons, difficult jobs, and private burdens.
A man who makes sure there is a roof overhead, food on the table, and love and laughter in the home.
To me, that is not ordinary.
That is faithfulness.
That is strength.
That is a kind of quiet heroism.
My husband once wondered whether another career might have made him more “successful.”
But I have told him what I believe is true:
Success is not measured only by what a man earns.
Sometimes it is measured by the people sheltered beneath the life he built.
I have seen what it means for a husband and father to work two jobs so a mother can be home with babies.
I have seen what it means to keep showing up, no matter how hard the season.
I have seen love expressed in provision, perseverance, and duty.
And I believe many men have lived this same quiet faithfulness.
Perhaps without hearing often enough that it matters.
So today, especially on Father’s Day, I want to say:
If you have carried a family…
If you have kept going when it was hard…
If you have provided, protected, sacrificed, and stayed…
Your life has worth.
Your labor has dignity.
And what you have built matters more than you may know.
Happy Father’s Day to the quiet heroes among us. 💛
