Some days, thanksgiving comes easily. Other days, we bring our praise to God with tired hearts and unanswered prayers. Yet through Jesus, we can still offer Him our thanks—trusting that He hears us and walks beside us.

Yesterday, I made an intentional choice to turn my worries into praise. Instead of letting the house or things that needed fixing bring me stress, I thanked God for the blessing of our home. And I thanked Him for Dennis, resting comfortably in his chair, watching television and doing well. After all we’ve been through, that ordinary moment felt like such a gift.

“Lord, thank You for this home, even with the things that need fixing. Thank You that Dennis is here with me. Thank You for the gift of an ordinary day together.” 💛

Today, let’s pause and speak our gratitude aloud. For His love. For His mercy. For the everyday blessings we sometimes overlook. Even in a difficult season, a simple “Thank You, Lord” is a precious offering. 🙏

Dear Lord, help us make praise a daily part of our lives. When our hearts are weary, give us words of thanksgiving and remind us of Your faithful love. Through Jesus, we offer You our praise. Amen. 💛

Today’s verse reminds us that we always have a reason to give thanks: God is good, and His mercy endures forever. 💛

Some days, gratitude comes easily. Other days, we find it in small comforts—a warm meal, a kind word, a quiet moment of prayer, or someone who helps us carry a burden.

Whatever this day holds, may we pause to recognize His goodness and thank Him for the love that carries us through every season.

🙏 Lord, give us thankful hearts and eyes to see Your blessings in our everyday lives. Thank You for Your goodness and enduring mercy. Amen.

And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy.

What I love about this passage is when the people began to sing. The temple was still being rebuilt. They had only laid the foundation, and already there was reason to give thanks.

And then there were the tears. Some of the older people who remembered the first temple wept as they looked at the new foundation, while others shouted for joy. I find that picture so tender. There was room for both that day.

Sometimes a new beginning brings back memories of what we’ve lost. We can miss what once was and still thank God for the little bit of hope we see today. Gratitude can have tears in it, too. 💛

🙏 Lord, thank You for the beginnings I sometimes overlook. When joy and sorrow come together, help me bring both to You and notice Your goodness in the middle of unfinished things. Amen.

This has always been one of my favorite psalms. I love how simply it gives us a reason to be thankful. God is good, and His mercy lasts forever.

Some days, gratitude comes easily. On days when my heart is a little heavier, I’m especially glad to have these words to come back to. They remind me that I can bring my worries to God and still thank Him for the goodness I see in the middle of an ordinary day. 💛

📖 Hebrews 12:28–29 (KJV)

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”

November has a way of reminding me how quickly things change. A tree that was golden yesterday can be nearly bare after one windy night. I’m grateful for that little reminder of what Hebrews promises us today—a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

I want to carry that gratitude into the ordinary things I do today. A little more patience when plans change. A few quiet minutes to pray. An act of kindness that nobody else needs to see. Each one is a small way to serve God with a thankful heart.

🙏 Lord, thank You for the gift of Your unshakable kingdom. Help me worship You with reverence and let my gratitude show in the way I care for others today. Amen.

I love sitting out on my deck on a cool evening, when the lights glow softly and the day begins to settle.

It’s a little time to reflect on the day, think about what needs doing tomorrow, and enjoy the breeze moving through the trees. In the distance, I can smell someone’s fire burning, perhaps with dinner cooking on the barbecue. There’s something so comforting about those familiar evening scents.

I sit, breathe, and feel myself relax. Tomorrow’s list can wait a little longer while I thank God for this peaceful moment and the home we’ve made.

Sometimes, the loveliest part of the day is right outside our own back door. 💛🏡

🍂 Fall’s Embrace: Why I Adore This Season 🍂

I am blessed to live in a place where I can experience the changing seasons. I have always loved January, with the beautiful glistening blanket of snow covering the frozen ground. I love spring, when the flower bulbs begin emerging from the earth, and summer, when I can listen to baseball while grilling dinner and watching my vegetables and herbs grow.

But the season that seems to touch my heart — and all of my senses — most deeply is autumn.

As a little girl, I remember looking out our picture window and seeing the brick Cape Cod-style houses along our street decorated with mums and pumpkins on their front porches. The street was ablaze with red and sugar maples dressed in brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red.

Later, as a high school student, marching band made fall especially exciting. I looked forward to learning our new music, marching in parades, and performing at football games beneath those cool autumn skies.

Home, though, was perhaps the most treasured part of fall.

There were morning breakfasts of hot oatmeal and coffee percolating on the stove. Pots of chili and stew returned to our evening meals, along with Sunday roasts. Favorite television shows came back with new seasons, and the house somehow seemed warmer and cozier as the days grew shorter.

And then there were the holidays.

I loved helping my mother decorate and prepare our favorite recipes. We grocery shopped and stocked our pantry with everything we would need for the weeks ahead. I still remember my mother, father, and me filling three grocery carts and thinking that a $135 grocery bill was absolutely exorbitant! 😊

Autumn is a time I cherish for its crisp air, trees that look as though they have been hand-painted in vibrant shades of yellow, orange, red, and purple, cozy dark evenings with candles glowing, a warm fireplace crackling, and the comforting aroma of a pot of chili simmering on the stove.

Maybe that is why I love autumn so deeply.

It carries with it pieces of every season of my life — childhood memories, family traditions, the comfort of home, and the quiet reminder that there is beauty in change.

Autumn Has a Place at Our Table

The fall tree is glowing, the dining room table is dressed for the season, and at last, the evenings are cool enough to feel like autumn. 🍁🏡

This is my favorite time of year. I love turning on the lights as the sun goes down, feeling that little chill in the air, and bringing out the recipes I’ve been looking forward to making again—slow cooker suppers, soups, and all the cozy flavors of fall.
